He then 3D printed an iPhone-sized enclosure he found on Thingiverse, and combined the board, a battery, a boost converter, and resistor to make a lightweight case. At first, it was quite bulky, resembling a brick you'd be more likely to have seen in a cellphone store 15 years ago.

I settled on the following requirements:<span style="background-color: white; color: rgba(0 , 0 , 0 , 0.8); font-family: , "georgia" , "cambria" , "times new roman" , "times" , serif; font-size: 21px; letter-spacing: -0.003em; line-height: 1.58;">Horsepower: the device must capture, compress, and transmit the screen’s contents in realtime at high frame rates.<span style="background-color: white; color: rgba(0 , 0 , 0 , 0.8); font-family: , "georgia" , "cambria" , "times new roman" , "times" , serif; font-size: 21px; letter-spacing: -0.003em; line-height: 1.58;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: rgba(0 , 0 , 0 , 0.8); font-family: , "georgia" , "cambria" , "times new roman" , "times" , serif; font-size: 21px; letter-spacing: -0.003em; line-height: 1.58;">

Compatibility: the device must run the latest version of Android (version 6.0.1 Marshmallow at the time of this writing).

Size: the board must be small and thin — approximately the dimensions of a credit card, the height of a USB connector.

Connectivity: The board needs built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth because I don’t want to write drivers to bridge these to the iPhone’s connections. Also, it needs built-in USB 2.0 for a high-speed, reliable connection to the host iPhone.

<span style="background-color: white; color: rgba(0 , 0 , 0 , 0.8); font-family: , "georgia" , "cambria" , "times new roman" , "times" , serif; font-size: 21px; letter-spacing: -0.003em; line-height: 1.58;">

<div class="graf--p graf-after--li" id="bdf7" name="bdf7" style="background-color: white; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8); font-family: medium-content-serif-font, Georgia, Cambria, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size: 21px; letter-spacing: -0.003em; line-height: 1.58; margin-top: 29px;">
With these criteria in mind, I chose the Lemaker HiKey. While its 8-core, 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 processor has more than enough power to run virtually any Android app on the market, it sports a unique party piece: it’s the official reference board of the Android Open Source Project. As a result, most of the HiKey’s necessary components are included directly in the AOSP source tree (a lifesaver). That said, getting my custom AOSP build to run successfully was still a tall order, requiring me to (among other things) recompile the kernel with performance-oriented tweaks to the USB driver.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What we Like About the Core Prime
The Galaxy Core Prime comes with a number of great features that help make it a phone that will be desirable for many Tracfone users. We like that it comes with 8 GB of Internal Memory, 4G LTE, and a very decent battery life.

With 8 GB of space on the Core Prime, about 3 GB will be used by the OS and other pre-installed applications. That leaves about 5 GB for you to load apps, music, videos, pictures and anything else you might want. 5 GB of space is a reasonable amount that will allow you to load all of your favorite apps, along with some pictures and music, But if you plan to put a whole library of music, or a number of videos, you will run out of space. Fortunately there is also a MicroSD Card slot so you can load some things, like music and pictures, onto the external card.

The Samsung Galaxy Core Prime is one of three new devices from Tracfone that use Verizon CDMA cell towers, and also have 4G LTE capability. The Core Prime is by far the cheapest of the three options, with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and E5 as the other two options, and currently going for $499 and $349 respectively. 4G is simply faster access to the internet using mobile data, allowing you sto stream videos or music at a faster rate to reduce buffering problems.

We were impressed with the battery talk time and standby which is very good for a smartphone. This phone should be able to last all day on one charge with moderate use, and even longer if you keep data and WiFi turned off.

Lastly, we are also really impressed with the current price for the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime, which is currently listed for $99 on HSN.com and comes with a 1 Year card, which is worth $99 by itself. Thus if you are already planning on purchasing a 1 Year/400 Minute card, you could by this phone package and get the Core Prime for free!

Dislikes for the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime
There are a few things that we want our readers to be aware of if they are considering the Core Prime.

First of all, the resolution for this smartphone isn't that great at 480x800. It gives you a dpi of about 207. This isn't too bad, but if you compare it to an iPhone 5, which is a few years old now, the iPhone has a dpi of 325, leading to clearer images because there are more pixels on the screen. We want to see Tracfone releasing more phones with improved screens for easier viewing. For most people, the screen on the Core Prime will be just fine and you won't notice any issues.

The Galaxy Core Prime comes with Android 4.4 KitKat, which is better than using older versions, however, it is a few years old at this point and you won't be able to update to 5.0. The LG Sunset, which is fairly similar to the Core Prime as we have mentioned, comes with Android 5.0.

Finally, the overall specs for the Core Prime are very good for a device from Tracfone, and especially at the current price, however, this isn't a phone that really 'wows' us but rather delivers very adequately and will be suited for low to moderate users. If you're someone who users their smartphone for lots of games, or other resource-intensive apps, you may want to look into the Samsung Galaxy S5, or the BYOP program.
That being said, the Sennheiser HD 598s are actually a very decent set of cans for home use. Their open backed ear cups allow for an open soundstage, and they are certainly easy on the eyes. Their pricetag is a little high, but their performance might be enough to justify the cost for some discerning audiophiles, as many shudders as that word may give us.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

I’d always wanted a pair of HD650s or HD800s but at the time couldn’t swing it financially. I opted instead for these - the HD598s - which, on paper at least, looked like a very viable alternative at a fraction of the price. sound quality is very important to me, and I have an exceptional audio system which will bring out the best and the worst in both music and audio gear

The headphones are very well packed. In the box you get a couple of cables and a screw-on quarter inch adapter. Build quality is exceptional as you would expect from sennheiser; and they’re certainly very comfortable, with plenty of soft plush padding.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

The Sennheisers have an impedance curve that varies significantly with frequency. This is true of most headphones, but it's more pronounced with the HD598s. This means that you need a headphone output with low impedance to ensure the headphones sound their best. Most amplifiers and receivers, even expensive ones, skimp on the headphone output by using a cheap resistor circuit that results in a high impedance output
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
The problems start, however, when you plug them in. I left mine running in for a week, playing constantly via the headphone out of my preamp. Consequently they were run in for a period of roughly 168 hours, using various pieces of musical material including test tones of various frequencies, burn-in discs and many genres of music.
The 598s can do low end, but with the mids being so overpowering it’s something you rarely get to appreciate. They sound tinny and boxy, with a hint of the openness inherent with them being an open back design.

I couldn’t listen to them for long periods of time, and certainly didn’t enjoy listening to an album through them. Contrary to their advertising I did not feel like I had a front row seat at a concert; rather like i was listening to a cheap hi-fi system with a woollen hat covering my ears.

Fortunately, another week past before mine developed a dodgy connection in one of the cans and i was able to return them. 2 stars because they’re well made and come with a detachable cable and because, for the most part, I like the sennheiser brand. But these headphones were a major disappointment.
